Feature Article

Here it is, as promised, a list of the different FLOCKS being offered this fall with the names of the shepherds, teachers, and courses that will be taught. We want you to be well-informed as you prayerfully consider which FLOCK you would like to join.  Sign-ups will begin August 8th with FLOCKS beginning September 12th.  We are excited to see how God uses this new ministry to grow us in our Christian walk both individually and corporately as a church body.

FIRST PERIOD FLOCKS

Shepherds:  Erik & Cathy Weinmiester
Teacher:  Mike Dornish
Course:   Kingdom Building Fellowship

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10 to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds ... and to not stop meeting together.” What does this look like? What are the characteristics and disciplines needed to really be able to build each other up? Let’s learn together how we can become more valuable to each other as we all seek to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

Shepherds:  Les & Sandy Bennett
Teacher:  Phil Awtry
Course:  Ephesians~The Church Revealed

What is the church? Why is the church important? What should the life of the church look like? These are foundational questions that to be need answered if the church of Jesus Christ and individual believers who compose it are to fulfill God’s purposes for both.   A study of Ephesians is a healthy inoculation against the toxic, pragmatic and superficial ideas that plague the modern church of Jesus Christ, and a strong dose of power to direct Christians to live as His body as an expression of the gospel.

Shepherds:  Mark & Louise Kasik
Teacher:  Larry Pilakowski
Course:  Ambassadors For Christ

Many of us have a magnet on our refrigerator from 2 Cor. 5:17 that says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”  As you read verses 18-21 in Cor. you find out that when God reconciled us to Himself through Christ He gave us all a new purpose.  He gave us a ministry as His ambassadors with a message. We don’t have our own message, but speak only that which our Sovereign has told us to speak.  Not only does He entrust us with the message, He wants us to get it right because the eternal life of those we love and come into contact with on a daily basis are at stake. We will be exploring what is involved in the ministry of reconciliation and the message He wants us to convey as His obedient servants.
SECOND PERIOD FLOCKS

Shepherds:  Darrel & Jan Wieberdink
Teacher:  Darin Christensen
Course:  The Corinthian Church

Our goal for this series will be to explore Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church, observing the text in order to discover the causes of their disunity. Are we open to the same temptations and sins that these early church believers were open to? Are the conditions that existed concerning their failures present in our body? How can we guard against the same mistakes that the Corinthian church made. These are the types of questions we will ask as we compare our church body to that of the Corinthians.

Shepherds:  Jerry & Becky Pearson
Teacher  Bill Menke
Course:  Sin and Sanctification

The study of sin is key to understanding ourselves and truly appreciating the salvation we need.  If we do not understand how sin totally affects our lives, we will not understand what we see God doing in our world.  More importantly, we will not see what He is doing in our lives.  We need to study sin because there is no greater threat to our growth as Christians.  Too often we fail to recognize the power and deadly impact of sin, so please join us this fall as we seek to understand sin and how it affects our pursuit for holiness.

Shepherds:  Corey & Nancy Briggs
Teacher:  Matt Stoeckle
Course:  On the Road to Emmaus
Imagine if you can, traveling the seven-mile trip from Jerusalem to Emmaus.  With downcast faces you meet a man on the road who, with amazing clarity as one who knows the Scriptures, shares with you about the Christ that you just recently saw crucified.  What would that conversation have been like?  How great would it have been to have Jesus Himself explain the Old Testament Scriptures directly to you?  Join us as we see how the Old Testament testifies in every way about our Savior and be reminded and amazed, as those men would have been on that road to Emmaus.

CREATING POSITIVE MEMORIES FOR ABUSED KIDS - Plans for RFKC 2010 are in the final stages!  Counselors have been recruited, the training session was a great success, and daily schedules have been completed.  The year’s theme, Royal Court, has been developed, chapel services planned and all the busy work is being done.  But RFKC needs more.  We need your continual, fervent prayer support.

In trying to illustrate the importance of each person's role in the church, the apostle Paul used the analogy of the parts of the human body.  As we go out to camp, the counselors and staff are the arms and legs, the eyes and ears to the campers.  As you stand behind them in prayer, you are the backbone, the muscles, and the ligaments that hold them together.  It is impossible to run this camp without the strength of prayer that you as a church body provide.

Please pray for the Counselors:
Pray that the Lord will prepare their hearts, minds and bodies to minister to the needs of the two campers with whom they will spend the week.  Pray that they will be able to take advantage of the "teachable moments" that occur.  Pray that all will go well at their jobs and with their families so they will not be distracted from concentrating on their campers.

Please pray for the Staff:
The staff needs your prayerful support in their planning and decisions for the camp.  They need prayerful guidance when working with the many people outside of the camp who are necessary to help produce a quality experience for the campers.  Pray for smooth interaction with counselors and campers.

Please pray for the Campers:
Pray that the children will be open to the Word of God and experience positive memories in camp.  Pray for their safety; the bus ride, the pool area, sporting events and safety in general.  Pray that seeds may be planted on fertile ground with these children.

Royal Family Kids’ Camps?  touches the lives of so many.  Each individual involved has the potential to be the one who makes a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child.  They are the ones who care, who listen, who teach a camper something new, who pay attention, or share a dream.  The moments pass quickly but the results last a lifetime.

Camp begins on Sunday, August 1st for the staff and Monday, August 2nd for the children and goes through Friday, August 6th.  Please be in prayer for all who are involved with camp on these dates.  One of the many things we have learned about RFKC is prayer makes a difference.  We thank you for partnering with us in our mission to bring positive memories and hope to these amazing children.

For His Kids,
Jonathan and Cristine Niles
