Sunday Bible School F.L.O.C.K.S.
At Highland Park, part of our purpose is to teach the Word of God in the context of loving relationships. This is exactly what happens every Sunday in
Sunday Bible School. Our mission in Adult SBS is "to teach God's Word to God's people
so that God's people do what God's Word says." In other words, we want to provide training experiences that will not only accurately teach the Scriptures, we also are determined to apply those Scriptures to the way we live our lives.
Most of God's commands are about how we should act and cooperate in community. Therefore, SBS FLOCKS provide you with a context for building a community of caring relationships.
FLOCKS is an acronym that defines our goals for our Bible School ministry. We want our FLOCKS to be:
Fellowship-Stimulating
Life-Examining
Outreach-Loving
Care-Administering
Knowledge-Applying
Service-Employing
Therefore, FLOCKS are groups of men and women committed to STUDYING, APPLYING, and IMPLEMENTING God's Word in the context of loving relationships.
In FLOCKS we envision a context of ministry where:
- The Scriptures are accurately taught;
- Authentic friendships of trust and love can be developed;
- Personal accountability in the process of growth is strengthened and encouraged;
- Practical care for each other's needs are constantly met;
- Steady equipping occurs in which current leaders serve and future leaders emerge and are entrusted with ministry;
- New visitors can learn more about Christ and how to plug into the life of HP!
Each Sunday morning, Highland Park offers 3 different FLOCKS during each ministry period. Each FLOCK is taught by a Bible Teacher and led by a Shepherding Couple assisted by multiple Under-Shepherds. The FLOCK period begins with a time of teaching from God's Word. Then, each FLOCK will break into its multiple small groups (little flocks) to discuss and apply the morning's teaching.
Since FLOCKS are where the people of Highland Park connect and care, please make time to join a FLOCK as we study and apply the Word of God in the context of loving relationships ever Sunday.
