Teaching Ministries
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15
Teaching ministries at Highland Park exist in order to clearly interpret, explain, defend, and apply the Word of God. Here are some of the ways in which we proclaim the Scriptures:
Preaching Ministries - Gathering the church as a whole to sit under the Word preached expositionally, which gives specific attention to the original languages, the historical intent, and practical application.
Summer Update: FLOCKS ministry is taking the summer off, Children's SBS and IMPACT will also not be meeting on Sunday mornings this summer. We will meet again on Sunday mornings this fall from 10:15-11:30am.
FLOCKS - FLOCKS is an acronym that defines our goals for our Bible School ministry. We want our FLOCKS to be: Fellowship stimulating, Life-examining, Outreach-loving, Care-administering, Knowledge-applying, Service-employing. Each Sunday morning, Highland Park offers three different FLOCKS during each ministry period. Each one is taught by a Bible Teacher and led by a Shepherding Couple assisted by multiple Under-Shepherds. The period begins with a time of teaching for God's Word and then breaks into its multiple small groups (little flocks) to discuss and apply the morning's teaching.
Children's SBS - Sunday Bible School for children nursery through 6th grade meets on Sunday morning during both preaching periods to study and learn the truths of Scripture arranged in a directed curriculum and taught by a number of selected teachers for children.
IMPACT - Student Ministries is designed for all students that are middle school through High School age. Impact youth ministry exists to reach Junior and Senior High school students with the Gospel of Christ. Its purpose builds an environment that promotes service to God and others while glorifying God as they connect and care for one another. IMPACT meets Sunday mornings at 10:15 AM and Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM in the Youth Room (B19 & B21)
BLT - Bible Leadership Training is an education program designed to prepare Christina men and women for leadership roles at Highland Park. BLT is not for everyone. It is for those who want to accomplish what BLT stand for: Biblical Leadership Training. Taking classes takes time and effort. These studies will demand discipline and study. Most BLY classes require homework and reading. If you are committed to serving Christ and committed to becoming better and and more effective in ministry leadership, then BLT may be for you.
